I can't believe I left that out...
StorageTek - L700
Fiber to the drives
The barcode is fine, the system reads it as it appears, but the system
"verifies" it and then thinks it's 2C1717
I do have an open ticket with software support. Waiting for them to
call me back. I checked the tape and it has the saveset I need. Right
now Networker is asking for 2C1713, so not sure how I am going give it
that volume?

You left out a lot of information such as the tape hardware involved,
but I suspect your tape label was printed incorrectly and the "?" is how
your tape library represents a control character. Are you actually able
to recover data off that tape? I recently encountered the same problem
and I researched it with the tech support people for my tape library,
but in my situation, the extra character is represented in a consistent
way so NetWorker can recover data from those tapes jsut fine. If you are
having a problem recovering data, you may need to contact the tech
support for your tape library and Legato to see what your options are.
