The block size being used is 64 kb on windows server.
I'm still suspicious it might be. ;-) The symptoms you describe are
puzzling though.
Assuming you don't need these volumes every day, why not try delete one
of them from the media database, and then use "scanner -v -m" to rebuild
the list of savesets on that volume.
After you've scanned it, see if the mount problem persists. The tape
should now be mountable, though the real question is what NetWorker now
reports as the volume label.
It would still be useful to get a look at the label that's on one of the
problem tapes. I'm not sure if there's a small, unobtrusive tool to read
a record off a tape (like dd would do for you). You obviously could
install cygwin to get dd and od, but that's not small or unobtrusive.
