The exchange module is single threaded which explains why you are
seeing an increase in throughput when you start additional backups.
Basically without the extra backups running your drives are having to
stop and start.

Subject: [Networker] Slow Exchange Backups

I have around 20 Exchange servers, and recently I have been experiencing
issues with a couple of servers, where by their backups are running very,
between 200-500Kb/s.

The odd thing is that when I start certain Exchange server backups the
performance of these slow servers increases to what I would expect, about
5Mb/s (DLT7000).

I have a Gbit network and about 100 other clients and I am not seeing any
network type issues.

The clients have their network cards set to 100/full

The server is Sun E450 Solaris 2.6 , Networker 6.1.3
Client 6.1.3,Exchange module 2.0-005.

Anybody else seeing Exchange issues or experienced similar problems.

Cheers

Allan
