We are using the dd565 here at our site, but the compression is only
around 12 right now, so was wondering what is your filesystem settings ?
Global Compression Type 9
Local Compression Type lz
Marker type none
We are seeing the same performance as with our old lto-2 tapes, but since
it runs over the same gigabit nic I wouldnt imagine that is would increase
or decrease much.
Cloning performance is also approx the same as when we were using tape.
The box itself is stable enough, with and uptime of 36 days.
we are not using the VTL only as adv file devices.
We plan to expand the use of the dd565 with an extra disk shelf, and use
it for mksysb backups also.

Re: [Networker] Anyone is using datadomain devices? Could you share your
experience please
Hi
Yes, we're using a DD580 (currently on trial). Have been using it for
about 3 months now and it's been absolutely brilliant. Rock solid.
We're not using VTL's but as an ADV File type device then cloning to tape
as required for odff-site storage.
Compression is very good and we have a whole mix of data.
I'm told it's especially good re compression with Oracle Databases, but
that's the one thing we haven't been using it with.
Even on nightly incrementals, we're seeing 25+ times compression.
Hope we get to keep it ;-))
Cheers... Allan

Dear All,
My sales guy recommended to look at DataDomain device (disk based
appliance) as a possible replacement for the tape library.
Anyone is using datadomain devices? Could you share your experience
please.
Thank you,
Aleksandr
