Hello
a customer has some SQL instances on a server protected according to these retention

If I understood well, Retain Only Version is something like "for how many days keep the last backup of a file that is not present anymore".
Is it right? How it works with SQL backups?

I ran a PS command to get the list of all backups of the SQL instances in order to see the oldest backups and their size and the result is that there are more backups 15 days older than backups created in the last 15 days

My expectation was:
- more backups created in the last 15 days
- less backups created more than 15 days ago

... but the the table in the image says the contrary

Can someone help me to understand better?

I hope I explained it well

Hi,

SQL uses active/inactive flags.

So, if you in 2022 had a databasef or a few weeks (and took backup of it), it will remain there with one copy in tsm until you manually uses tdpsqlc incativate command.

Good luck,
