You are better off doing this with the DB down and trying to start it after
you're done. If there's any issues then just use the uninstall script.

Yes, I forgot to mention that the Oracle databases are running on
Solaris 8 on Sun Fire 6900s. So I guess the RMAN will automatically pick
up the changes (new libraries etc)?
