Hi Paul
Many, Many thanks! I ended up using the GUI - I did use bpexpdate -backupid
and entered the backup id, however NetBackup stated "No Entity was found".

Yet, when done through the Catalog, it vanished fine!

I have also now increased my Disk Storage capacity and will perform a live
backup this weekend.

Will be creating a DSSU as well :-)

May I ask what purpose you use DSSU for, and what sort of capacity you write
to disk, and when you write to tape? Any sort of example would be good, just
to be sure I am on the right track and making the most of the DSSU facility.

Regards

in the GUI, click "catalog", select "pathname", then select your D(S)SU
path, then select dates, etc, and run the report, and you'll get your
images.
anything with Copy Number 1 is on disk.
you can right click and expire, if you like.

CLI, use bpimagelist to find what you want....that's up to you....(use the
CLI manual or man pages) it will give you a list of backup image IDs, which
you can expire same as a tape image, using bpexpdate

bpexpdate -recalculate -backupid <backup id> -copy 1 -d mm/dd/yyyy HH:MM:SS
<-now

Thanks. Point 2 and 4 make more sense.

Point 1 - so if I wanted to expire the images what is the command :-(
also, I assume anything written to a DSSU cannot be produced via a Netbackup
report like Media List?

thanks again Paul.

in point 1, I went to look at the reports (normally I look at media lists),
but I dont see anything. Could you just clarify how its deleted or how I can
see from a report when its due to expire?

bpimagelist
bpexpdate

Point 3 - If the Data is moved to tape, one sorts of assumes its going to
be in the NBU DB in the event I need a restore?

The image on disk is copy 1, and the image on tape is copy 2.
copy 1 is the primary untill it expires or is expunged from disk, then copy
2 is automatically made primart.

Point 4 - Is DSSU's the same as DSU?

Nope.....the extra S is for staging. When you create a DSSU, there will be a
button for configuring the stagin process.
