Hi Jerry,
Working with STK L700 + ACSLS, you have two possibilities:
- cleaning by hardware: the L700 firmware could execute the cleaning =
when the flag is actived on the tape drives. You can see whether this =
option is actived on the library display in Library Configuration.=20
- cleaning by software ACSLS: the software can execute the cleaning when =
the tape drives request it. You can see whether this option is actived =
on ACSSS console with the command "dv_print" and see the environment =
variable AUTOCLEAN =3D TRUE or FALSE.
>From StorageTek, the recommendation is working with cleaning by hardware =
or cleaning bysoftware ACSLS, never by software Veritas, because the =
NetBackup cleaning is based in subjective hours.

Jerry,
With ACSLS you have to let the library do the cleaning, or you will get=20
hangs. Been there.
There is a veritas tech note on the subject on their support site.
