[Veritas-bu] How does Netbackup handle Sendmail backup?

I didn't think the sendmail daemon had to be active to send mail out from the
host?

Paul, as sendmail handles smtp requests asynchronously, you will have to kill
and restart the daemon before doing the backup (unless you can otherwise
guarantee that no mail will be sent/received during the time the backup is
running). This is easily handled with pre and post scripts. The complication
arises from notification though. Once the job ends, smtp notification can't be
sent until the daemon is running again.

Is there any special quirks, requirements (i.e. agents, etc, ?), difficulties
with using Netbackup to back up Sendmail mailboxes running on Solaris 9 on
Sparc?
We're moving from an MS Exchange mail server to Sendmail, and I'm used to
needing the optional Exchange agent for mail backup. Just wondering if a
special agent is needed to keep Sendmail databases and mail folders
in sync.
Thanks
