You would set up two policies for each server, one for the Exchange or Oracle
agent and one regular policy with ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES. In the host properties,
put an exclude of the exchange and Oracle filesystems for the regular policy.
For example set up policy named Exchange, type MS-Exchange-Server, client
exhost1, files /Microsoft Information Store/
Another policy named whatever type=MS-Windows-NT, client exhost1 files
ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES
Then in HostProperties->Clients select exhost1, Exclude tab, put in Policy
whatever, Files/Directories: C:\Program Files\Exchsrvs\MDBDATA or whatever the
directory of your Exchange database is.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Oracle and Exchange backups
Hi List,
When running backups of servers that are running Oracle 9i or MS
Exchange Server 2000, can regular full backups be run on these servers
(i.e. "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES"), and/or would these servers need to have
specific policies using *only* the Oracle or Exchange agents?
i.e. I guess my concern is, is there danger of corrupting mailboxes or
database tables if you run a regular "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES" backup on these
boxes?
Thanks
PG
