"50 minutes..."!!! I hope that was supposed to be 5. Even so, that's a
long time. 50 is ridiculous. If that's the case, I say throw out that
2400 baud modem and get cable internet or stop trying to open it from home
:-)
to get rid of the topology map in any of the windows, you have a little
icon in the top right corner of each window on the right side. it will
either be a maximize icon, or if you're already maximized, a split icon to
go back to 2 windows. click on the maximize icon for the one you want and
the other goes away.
I'm not sure if doing it this way helps performance, but I don't like the
topology window so I don't use it. It does seem a little faster when you
don't use the topology, but I have never actually timed the two to see the
difference.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Upgraded to 4.5
Hi Everyone, we just upgraded our environment from 3.4 to 4.5. So far I'm
very disappointed by the performance of the Java GUI and the Windows
Remote Administration Console.
I think the performance problem for the Windows Remote Admin Console is
caused by the topology map the GUI draws. The GUI takes about 50 minutes
to start the activity monitor and the devices monitor, but everything else
responds ok. These two areas have the topology map in common, does
anyone know how to disable this topology "feature"? Or are we stuck with
it?
Thanks
Lowell
