Hello Rob

So what you're saying is that the timestamps are recorded on a per class per
stream basis? Any idea where this information is being kept? The old Unix
dump kept it in /etc/dumpdates, does Netbackup keep something similar on each
client?

The reason that I'm asking is that last week, I configured a class to do full
backups of only mail folders daily but to do the usual spread of full and
differential for all other files. The idea being to have separate retention
periods for mail folders as opposed to everything else. However, at the time,
the full backup of the mail folders ran just before the differential so even
though the class and schedule specific exclusion and inclusion lists meant the
two runs were for different files, the differential backed up essentially
nothing as it ran so close after the full of the mail folders. If what you're
saying is the case then I would just need to have the not mail folders schedules
in another class rather than just be another schedule and I could still run the
mail folder backups as full backups (preferable since they would be expiring on
a daily basis), I've been running the mail folders backups as differential and
the everything else backups at cummulative and to avoid the earlier mail folder
run from overshadowing the everything else run.

John

So your boxes might all be scheduled for their normal full backups on January
2nd, and you want to run a full backup on December 31st that will not change the
scheduling of that January 2nd backup?

I'd suggest you create a new class for this purpose. (Netbackup full and
incremental comparisons for a particular client are tied to the classname)

I everyone,

I have to do a full backup at the end of the year. But i don't want to affect
the regular backup. Is this a command or a command line in netbackup 3.4 to do a
full backup of all my server and didn't change the achive bit?

Someome have an idee, (duplicate is not an option).
