Unscheduled full backups
If one is used to a procedure, he will rarely use something else. Because NMC
uses different databases (which might be out of sync with NW's media index) I
would avoid it whenever possible. And for this specific report i do not see
that you must use gstclreport because mminfo could do the exact same job. It is
the media index that really counts! Simply run a command pretty similar like
this:
mminfo -q "client=watts,name=/home,savetime>=start_date,savetime<end_date" -r
"volume,client,savetime(25),sumsize(15),ssid,sumflags,level,name" -ot -xc, >
csv_outfile.txt
"-ot" is most important as it is easier to verify the cyles when the backups
are sorted by the dates.
Then import the CVS file into an Excel spreadsheet and add the values in the
sumsize column (to the byte!) before you convert the value to GB. On a
NW/Windows server you can use PowerSell to do this automatically for you ;-) .
As it has already been mentioned: Index backups belong to the server, not to
the client. If you want to see them as well you must execute the same command
with the server's name as client and an appropriate save set name for the
index. The NMC report sheet indicates that these also might occur for the
client but this in fact is exclusively possible for the NW server's client.
However, this will still not answer why unscheduled fulls occured. These can
even be manual backups as it was possible for a while to even assign the level
full to them when starting the job from the command line. I guess it applies to
your version as well.
Finally do not forget: aborted save sets (indicated by the sumflags state '?a')
are not valid. They are just mentioned because they can not be deleted
individually from tape.
