Hi,

Finally, I've upgraded to 7.6.1.7 the server without apparently problems. Our server is Windows 2008 SP2.

Now, I'm trying to install this version in a client using Software Distribution feature (is the first time I try to use it; in the past we update the client manually login in every machine).

I've imported in the repository the client for windows x86 and the client for windows x64. Then, I've done the inventory and added my client to it.

After selecting the client and trigger the upgrade I got a failure in the activity monitor:

Inventory Completed
Upgrade Warning
Status Failed
Phase Waiting for Daemons

I've not been asked for any username/password for the client so I suppose there is a problem with privileges (my administrator in the server doesn't have rights in the client or something like that). Or is something related to firewalls? (i.e. the server can't copy files to the client).

Have anyone a more detailed explanation about what to configure for having this working? How this software deployment works?

The difference between the 7.6.1 and 7.6.2 clients (other than Windows
2008 DR support) seems minimal. I had to replace the NetWorker software on
several clients because they were running very old versions so I figured
that since I expect to go with 7.6.2 fairly soon, I would save myself some
time by installing the 7.6.2 RA version on those clients. I have tested
restores on several them. No problem.

we're upgrading manually (I know that is possible to do that with our
actual version but we haven't had time to test it yet).

If I download 7.6.1 from PowerLink, is the latest version? Or do I need
to download and apply the latest cumulative fixes? (7.6.1.7 as for the
PDF file).

Yeah, that's driving me crazy, too. All my Win2008 servers are on
7.5.2,
since we wanted to wait for 7.6.2 to be GA before upgrading. The
reason
we
waited is because of what is (apparently) happening .. the RA release
is,
in effect, still a beta release, as "until EMC is satisfied that the
current users of 7.6.2 are running smoothly" indicates to me. But it's
getting to the point where I may have to move to 7.6.1, just to get
better
(not full) support for my Win2008 servers, some of which give me grief
about backing up VSS System Filesets, and so on.

It's almost end of 2nd quarter, which was when 7.6.2 was supposed to
be
GAed, I thought.
