You're on the right track. In the event of a disaster, you generally
- procure new hardware
- install the OS
- install NetWorker
- go through the disaster recovery procedure documented in the NetWorker
disaster recovery guide, which involves using "mmrecov" to recover a
copy of the media database and resource file(s) from the most recent
bootstrap backup you have.
Thanks for the reply, I appreciate the help... and yes, it's an ancient
version. Turns out the partition with /nsr looks like it actually survived
the disk crash. Would I be better off starting with that on a fresh OS or
to try and recover from the bootstrap?
If you have the partition, you might as well use that, rather than going
through the disaster recovery procedure.
You've been circumspect about what you plan on doing about the OS.
Figuring out how you're going to get 6.1.4 installed and running
is now probably a more difficult problem than how you're going to
get your old NetWorker data back.
BTW, do you have a copy of the Disaster Recovery guide, or at least access
to powerlink.emc.com?
