SharePoint granular backups are always scheduled from one web frontend in the
SharePoint farm. Check the new NMM Application Technical Notes for SharePoint
and Exchange guide on EMC PowerLink for details.

Subject: [Networker] sharepoint granular backup
Hi, i have successfully setup sharepoint backups using Networker NMM and VSS
method.
I have now attempted to run granular backups but i am unclear which servers
within the sharepoint disperesed configuration should be backed up. My VSS
backup contains the index server, web front end and sql server. What should the
Granular backup group contain?
I have run the command nsr_moss_save -f on the index server, frontend web
servers and sql server. The command only runs successfully on the index server.
THe error message on the frontend web and sql server states that the Networker
Sharepoint Service Controller should be started. This service is only started
on the Index server - on the other servers the service starts and stops
immediately stating that "some services stop if not in use". The account used
to start the service is the sharepoint admin.
The backup using saveset NMMOSS:/ works on the index server but fails on all
other servers stating that the Networker Sharepoint Service Controller should
be running.
Is a backup of the Index server using NMMOSS:/ sufficient for granular restore?
The backup is just 1.5gb but some of the SQL backups using VSS are 30gb!
Thanks for any advice on this.
