hi,
i was configring my LTO 4 tape library with 4 tape drives for networker 7.2 on
windows. I was in touch with the EMC support and my requiremnt was tht i wanted
to configure 2 tape drives out of 4 for normal backps and the other 2 tpe
drives for NDMP backups, which will be used for my NETAPP filer..
So i cold successfully do the first part , i.e. 2 tape drives for normal
backup. Bt i could not configure successfully for the tape drives for NDMP
backups. It said it could not establish connection with the filer. When i
checked the remote user settings it was correct. So finally the EMC support ppl
told my configurations were correct. bt i had to do some settings in the
network part.
They told me to do these two things :
1) First of all, edit the host file of the backup server and put the entries,
i.i ip address, long name and shortname of the filer and also edit the host
file of the filer which is running on unix os and put the entries of backup
server also.

2) The second point ( which i did not understand) what they told was i had to
open the rpc port in the filer and backup server. Because wen they applied the
rpcinfo command to the filer it could not connect.
in this secon point what i did not understand is that , actually what
shold we do? what is this rpc connection and where should we open this ?
what is it actally they meant ? Open rpc port or open rpc connection and where
should we do this ?

yoour suggestions would be valuable ..

rgds,
kv
