Hello,
Look into Timer Values for the Jukebox, there may be adjustments that can
be made if you are reaching that value. I am hopeful, that you can keep
the Auto Media M on with the new values.

RE: [Networker] Tape drive says "monitoring"?
It's not an error per se. It's just that for some reason manually working
with media via the device when Auto Media Management is on gives this
message. I seem to recall that I can work with the device by giving it a
longer period of time(like 90-120 seconds) between issued commands when
AMM is on. But in my case I pre label tapes for certain backups and so in
order to speed up the process I temporarily disable AMM. It's a little
disheartening to hear that this issue is still present in v7.4 though...

Hello,
You should investigate the error, setting auto media off, could jeopardize
your backup routine , i do not recall having to do this intervention for
reading\writing\scanning a tape.

I get that message when attempting to work with tapes when the device has
"Auto Media Management" set to Yes. I set it to No temporarily, do what I
need to do and then set it back.

I have a Win2003 server, running NW 7.4 SP1, with a single LTO-4 tape
drive. NW is showing the drive as "monitoring". My backup job won't run,
claiming that I need to label a different tape (I got the dread "too many
open files in system", for which no one has ever seemed to find an answer
for). Problem is, I can't seem to re-label the current tape, as it says
that it is "monitoring", whatever that means. And I have no other spares
at that site, since the order for more tapes doesn't come in until later
this week.
