Good day,

I need to know if it's easy for someone to recover data stored on a tape by Networker if that someone doesn't have Networker to restore the data
with. It may sound like I'm that someone but this is a security audit
question. They want to know if someone who gets his hands on one of our
tapes can restore the data easily.

Not that I know of, but your security auditors should also ask another question. How easy is it to get a copy of NetWorker, install it, and recover the data without authorization? Of course, the necessary hardware to run NetWorker and read your backup media would also need to be available. If the hardware is in place, getting the NetWorker software is pretty easy, especially since licensing it is not required for recovering data.
