[Networker] Hosts file on a DNS Server
2007-07-18 06:23:56
Hi,
I wonder if anyone on the list can help with this one?
We have a new installation of Networker 7.3.2 sp1 on a Windows 2003
server. We had some errors backing up clients (Windows 2000 and Windows
2003) related to "connection refused" and "cannot open session" messages.
These were fixed when the hosts file was updated with both short and FQDN
on the Networker server. This is how i've always overcome name resolution
issues in the past. However the Networker server is a DNS server and the
hosts file needs to be removed from thjs server.
Has anyone found a way of consistently backing up the clients without
errors and without using the hosts file on the backups server? I have the
aliases of the clients in the section of the client preferences tab in the
administrator section.
Thanks for any help,
Terry.
