Re: [Networker] Volume name/barcode mismatch
2007-06-15 03:08:23
Thanks all! I got it working.
Peter got me on the right track. Running nsrjb showed me that a couple of the
drives were still mismatched. It was something like:
drive 1 (\\.\Tape0) slot 19: 005115L3 (mounted)
drive 2 (\\.\Tape1) slot 10: 005106L3 (mounted)
drive 3 (\\.\Tape4) slot 96: 005172L3 (mounted)
drive 4 (\\.\Tape3) slot 88: 005173L3 (mounted)
drive 5 (\\.\Tape2) slot 95: 005176L3 (mounted)
I had deleted all the drives out and readded them previously, but they readded
incorrectly. This time I tried deleting all the drives out, stopped and
restarted the Networker services, then readded them. After doing that the nsrjb
returned the correct results:
drive 1 (\\.\Tape0) slot 19: 005115L3 (mounted)
drive 2 (\\.\Tape1) slot 101: 005106L3 (mounted)
drive 3 (\\.\Tape2) slot 96: 005172L3 (mounted)
drive 4 (\\.\Tape3) slot 88: 005173L3 (mounted)
drive 5 (\\.\Tape4) slot 95: 005176L3 (mounted)
Yeah! Apparently it made a difference to delete all the drives out AND stop and
restart the Networker services before readding the drives back in.
I then did a complete inventory of all the tapes. That corrected nearly all the
tapes, but not all of them.
I had about 5 tapes in the tape library that weren't in Networker's database
yet. Those tapes did the same type of mismatches as before:
Tape 1, volume name 2021, barcode 2132
Tape 2, volume name 2246, barcode 2154
etc.
But it was only those tapes. I then labeled these tapes (they weren't in
Networker's database yet anyways). After doing that, they took and kept their
correct names/barcodes.
I've let it run a few days to make sure it didn't revert back. It hasn't. So
it's fixed! Yippee.
Thanks again.
