Does Anyone have any experience backing up Virtual Machines (Windows)
running on a VMWare ESX 3.0 host machine ?

>From what I can tell so far from the brief research I've done, it can be
done one of 3 ways (from VMWare docs): 1. install Networker Win Client
package on each Windows Virtual Machine and treat each VM as an
individual client. 2. Use VMWARE Consolidated Backup, which requires
both the VMWARE host and a backup proxy server to access a common SAN
storage area (seems complicated & I don't think we have a SAN that can
be shared between the VMWare and backup servers). 3. Using a Backup
Agent (Linux Client?) on the Service Console (which requires VMs to be
powered down before having their image files backed up). I'm leaning
towards option #1 because it is the simplest and allows individual files
to be restored on each VM, whereas the others don't, but the downside is
it will gobble up client licenses.....
