With the 7.3.2 Jumbo 11 "emergency upgrade request" coming from EMC
Networker support team, I was concerned that data was not being backed
up or that data was not going to be recoverable, so we tested it. The
console reports are UGLY, red icons, warning icons everywhere. But the
fact of the matter is all data "appears to be" 100% recoverable.

As another test/demonstration I just did a full server restore from
almost 12 years ago.

Do you have any idea the challenges in doing this?

It is NOT tape media shelf life concerns. It is the server HARDWARE, the
TAPE DRIVES that had been sitting in bubble wrap on shelves. The
original OS software "Banyan Vines 5.54(6)" which had to be created from
scratch and match up close enough to do a data restore.

I was in the process of putting together a data migration plan, to
migrate files/email from archaic data forms to current technology form.

Maybe my next job should be for the Library of Congress? <Grin> Maybe
the Smithsonian!!!

Going home for the long weekend, going to work on my Commodore SX-64
(the one that looked like portable luggage with keyboard and monitor
built-in)... Maybe my Tandy Co-Co, TRS-80 or Commodore C-128D (the one
that was made to look like an IBM computer)... I just want to see if I
can restore my data from that time... The mid 80s!
