In regard to: [Networker] Oracle RMAN backup questions, George Sinclair...:
2. During normal (non-Oracle) backups, how many files does NetWorker send in
a single saveset?
There is no limit that I'm aware for files in a saveset.
Older versions of NetWorker, including until recently the NetWare client,
would break a saveset at the 2 GB boundary into "continuation savesets",
which show up with a <#> after the saveset name. If you had a volume
with on file on the filesystem and that file was between two and four GB
in size, you would get a saveset + a continuation saveset for just that
one file. If the file was between four and six GB, you get a saveset +
two continuation savesets, etc.
Modern versions of NetWorker don't do that, although when NetWorker writes
savesets to tape, it still breaks the file on tape at the 2 GB boundary.
The difference there, though, is that the file on tape might contain parts
of multiple savesets.
