Since upgrading to 7.3.2 on the backup server and storage node, the
following message is frequently appearing in the logs:
09/21/06 16:05:04 nsrexecd: SYSTEM error: There is already a machine using
the name: "sn01.qbranch.se". Either choose a different name for your
machine, or delete the "NSR peer information" entry for "sn01.qbranch.se"
on host: "britt.qbranch.se"
britt is the backup server and sn01 is the storage node.
I really don't know why this started showing now, or if its dangerous in
any way. As far as I can conclude, I can see a possible problem. When
looking at configuration > local hosts (in the management GUI), I see two
entries, one for sn01 (the short name) and one for sn01.qbranch.se (FQDN).
As far as I can tell, it seems to contain certs for the same hosts,
regardless if I click the long or the short name. This is the only host
that is showing this, all other hosts have only an entry for the client
name as its defined in networker.
The only reason I can think of is that we have defined the remote devices
as "sn01:/path/to/tape", but the backup client as "sn01.qbranch.se", ie a
mix of short name for the tapes and long name for the client (although the
short name is in the aliases list for the client definition).
It seems that I can't remove the short name in the list of local hosts.
Should I try to remove that? If so, how? Or is there anything else that
makes this happen? Or any other things I should do? :)
On a side note, the following messages have started appearing:
09/21/06 16:05:55 nsrd: media info: WORM capable for device /dev/rmt/1cbn
has been set
(for all devices, several times per device in a short time frame)
I guess this is due to the new WORM support. It doesn't seem to do any
harm. However, when looking with the old unsupported networker
administrator on windows, the drive is listed as "writing, UNKNOWN" for a
short while after that message appears. The drive seems to recover, or
networker gets back into sync again after that without any obvious
disruption. Its still annoying though.
Other than that, no big oopses yet. However, it has only been a few
hours so far... But my hopes are low.. :(
