That's odd.  What error are you getting when you try to relabel without
deleting.

Networker should match up the tape with the old database entry and
automatically delete it during the relabel process.  You're not giving
it a new name are you?  As long as the names match up, it should allow
this to happen.

Yes.  You can delete with nsrmm -d, but it shouldn't be necessary here.
