Hi,

I need to configure a media pool wherein for every backup, Networker uses a
fresh tape from the media pool even if there are appendable tapes available.
The appendable tapes should be used only after getting expired
automatically.

I would start a (Unix) script linke this. Freetapes is a pool containing only free, expired volumes.

ALLVOLS=`mminfo -q near,pool=Freetapes -r volume 2>/dev/null`
if [ ${?} -ne 0 ]
then echo no free volume found; exit 1
fi

MYVOL=`echo $VOLS|sed 's/\W.*//'`

nsrjb -LYmb 'my pool' $MYVOL

Now a blank tape is ready to go.

HTH
Olaf
