Re: [Networker] recreate a client from scratch with a new id

Without trying to repeat Robert's email,
My thoughts exactly ... It has worked this way for me before. And by fooling
Legato in this way one can create the client.
If you still get "cannot find saveset, performing full backup" messages it
indicates to me it still has some history of previous client id's, or it isnt
equating the client you are backing up to the client-id it has for it...
As you are still pretty new to Legato the easiest way (at this moment) would be
to perform MMINFO queries against clientID's and names to try and understand
what is what. If there are duplicates you would have to try and remove the
"old" or incorrect ones.
This would involve modifying the nsr.res - which is done using "nsradmin". I am
not advocating that anyone that is new to Legato do this outright as you can
cause yourself a lot of stress as you could possibly cause some non-reversible
damage (i.e. think of either re-installation or doing a disaster recovery from
your last bootstrap) ... Shut down your Legato services first and make a
consistent copy to a safe place before you start with this.
You would have to run queries against the client resource - so you would need
to familiarise yourself fisrt with, creating queries, setting the resource you
want to query and "print"-ing the results.
Once you have that down you can look at modifying or "set"-ing attributes.
Good Luck,
Riaan
