Pool selection is done on following order :
group AND client AND fs AND level AND device.

Keep in mind the following : "Manual initiated backups
never refer to the group name the clients belongs to".

In your described cases, if your pool selection is based on
group name, as client initiated backups do not rely on group name,
then nsrd will search for a pool based on client name
then fs and level and drive.

If no pool matches criterias, then a tape will be requested
in Default pool.

If you reconfigure your pools based on saveset name, for sample,
then tape will be requested in right pool(s).

Subject: [Networker] Manual Backups and Pool Selection

I have a quick question regarding manual backups using the "NetWorker
User" GUI and pool selection.

If I have a client who has multiple definitions that each reside in
different groups which are serviced from different pools, where will a
manual backup go? At this time it is going to Default, which is not
what I want.

So, as an example...

Definitiion 1
------------------
server01.domain.com
SS: C:\
Group: Local_Drives
Pool: Local Drives

Definition 2
-----------------
server01.domain.com
SS: SYSTEM STATE:\
Group: System_States
Pool: System States

If the user fires up NetWorker User and kicks off a full system
backup...where will it go?...Default? Command line is NOT the preferred
solution.

Any help would be...helpful ;-).

Cheers,
Jim
