Hi Glen

I did this about 6 months ago where I wanted to recover a saveset from
a now defunct Netware client from another site.
Maybe I was lucky, I only knew the client name - not the client id, but
here's what worked for me...

1) Created client e.g. 'oldclient' I also added the full DNS name as
an alias e.g. 'oldclient.xx.yy.zz'
2) Put in the tapes and inventoried them
3) Issued a 'scanner /dev/rmt/xxxx' - I was only interested in one
particular saveset.
4) Now I had the SSID I issued a 'scanner -m -S ssid /dev/rmt/xxxx'.
That adds the entry into the media index.
5) I then went to one of my existing clients (where I wanted the data
recovering to) and did a Save-Set recover.

Hope this helps.

Allan.

How to import tapes from a different NW server with client ID
unknown?
When running SCANNER -i /dev/rmt/0cbn command I am getting the
following error messages:

scanner: File index error: `server_1' is not a registered client
scanner: write failed, Broken pipe

And nothing gets created in /nsr/index directory.

Is there a way to force the scanner to update indexes at the same
time?

Regards,

Glen
