My understanding is that a "native" legato streamed backups use
checkpoints. Once a media error occurs, it attempts to write EOT then
restarts backup at the last checkpoint on the next media. You only loose
the time since the last checkpoint, where with NDMP you could be at 14
hours of a 15 hour backup and it fail and it starts over at the
beginning and you have another 15 hours to go.
