Sumash,

Thank you for the information!

I am working with our vendor and he has never scheduled RMAN to kick off
from Networker. He said he schedules them in OEM/Jobs. How can you
schedule this to run through Legato?

Essentially, you define two files

1] Your nsrnmo.sh file contains all the environment variables for the
Oracle user so that NetWorker is able to imperonate the Oracle user.
This is required becuase the normal root user has little or no idea
about any oracle paths etc, listeners etc

2] Your rman script file contains the various rman commands needed to
backup the datafiles etc. Within these files you also specfiy whether to
backup full database or logs or control file.

3] You would need an rman database to hold information about these
backups being conducted. With version 3.x of the module you would need
to do regular Oracle dumps of the rman database. I am not sure how
things have changed with version 4.0 of the module.

4] You can schedule these Oracle backups to take place via NetWorker's
scheduling.

I hope someone out there has done this before! I am running an Oracle
9.2
RAC system on Windows 2000. I need to do Oracle backups using RMAN
because the datafiles, controlfiles, etc. are located on raw disks. My
question is this: How do I integrate RMAN so that Networker will keep
track of the Oracle backups through the CFI and media database? Do I
just
schedule the RMAN scripts through Oracle Jobs? Any and all help is
appreciated.
