(disable the Networker device, load the target tape, then)

mt -f /dev/rmt/# erase

(unload tape, enable Networker device)

The * means that the tape is unknown to Networker (VolID is not in the media
database).  The - means that the tape does not contain a valid Networker
label.  If it has a Networker label, that will be displayed (like Server.001*)
