How you have you pools/schedules/groups setup is exactly how ours are
setup. I've not found anyway around this.

I have four pools (7 year, 2 year, 90 days, 30 days) and four client
entries for each machine. Each of the four clients live in four schedules,
annual, monthly, weekly and daily. The schedules are in groups that kick
off every day, but have the level of "skip" when not wanted. That is, the
annual schedule does a full backup on Jan 1, but skips every other day.

Ugly, but it =does= get the backups onto tapes where the retention makes
sense for our off-site vaulting.

For what it's worth, Veritas NetBackup does that all by itself.
