Hi Theirry,
        I did tried the way u described. basically after i configuring jukebox
with
jbconfig,I manually put Media catridges for DLT in 1-10 slots, SDLT in
10-20,LTO on 20-30. i tried to do inventory usign GUI by selecting drive and
slots where media for that drive is located but even then some how i got
"incompatible medium installed" which was a surprise to me. i don't have
anything in Storage Tek L40 tape library where can i assign slots to
particular drive.

It may be the problem related to LTO media catridges which did not had any
barcodes and my library was looks to be confused about those catridges
"showing them as unknown type". but still as per my assumption, if i am
specifying particular slots during inventory then it should go ok. that is
where my second question comes, is there any way in networker i can specify
that media catridges with barcode label ending with s1 are for SDLT , ending
with "d" are for DLT and rest by default for LTO... something like that.

i was looking into nwadmin GUI regarding barcode rules thing but could not
find anywhere.

Thanks
Vikas

A good workaround ... without alphastor :

You must work with slot range :
1-50 -> DLT
51-100 -> SDLT
101-> 151 -> LTO

Not fixed inside legato but managed by your tape
operators.

It can cause problems during inventory, recover or labelling but
a problem without solution is a badly described problem :

Inventoty your lib or start labelling using nsrjb and
specify -f <drive> and -S <Slot range> depending of media tyme
For the recovers, mount manually the tape before launching the
recover.

that's working fine for me.

Thierry

You must use either AlphaStor or SmartMedia. NetWorker doe snot support
mixed media out of the box.

In AlphaStor you will have to segment the physical library into multiple
virtual libraries within AS.
SmartMedia will handle this out of the box with one library definition.

If you have more questions, please e-mail AlphaStor AT legato DOT com
