I think that is actually the limitation of the server itself, not the
storage node. The total number of devices including the storage nodes is
32, or 64 depending on the OS you are running. Unless you look into a
product like alphastor to virtualize the drives.

Actually, the only limitation is the number of devices, depending on the
version of NetWorker you are running. With Network Edition is 32 devices
per storage node.
