Hello All,

Here's the situation:

We've got 2 Linux clients. Both the same OS (Debian 3.0), both have been
setup the exact same way. We'll call the troubled one Test. Test does not
get it's indexes saved...or so it seems.

Full backups, which run on Saturday, work fine. The client gets backed up
without any errors. Going through the logs, I see the message saying the
Legato server is saving the indexes for Test. When you goto
Clients--->Indexes and than look at the indexes for Test it says there are No
Save Sets. So what happens during the week when the incrementals run, Legato
sees no Save Sets, so it runs a full backup on the box. After the fulls,
again it says it's saving the indexes yet when you goto Client--->Indexes and
look at the Save Sets for Test, there are none. The effect is a full backup
every night!

We've checked permissions, re-installed the Networker client, re-setup the
client on the server, but all to no avail.

Well, when we run the command "mminfo -c Test" we get the following output
(edited):

volume client date size level name

000014 Test 09/11/02 16 MB full /
000014 Test 09/11/02 903 MB full /usr
000014 Test 09/11/02 82 MB full /var

So it is saving the indexes! To verify, in /nsr/test/* there are the save
sets.

We've contacted Legato about this, and have opened up a ticket. I'm sure
we're way down low on the priority list so we have no idea when we'll hear
back from them. One thing we suspect it might be, is the ID number of the
client, on the server is different than what it is.

Any suggestions, ideas? Anything will be greatly appreciated.

Also, if anybody knows of a command or a way to COMPLETELY remove the client
from the server, including the ID number the server has for the client, that
would be great. We think that might fix the problem.

-Matt
