Residency Announcement:  TI-A707-R01 How Safe Are My TSM Backups?

Benefits to Resident:  Residents will work utilize their existing TSM
skills, in a dynamic international team environment, to produce a
substantial deliverable on end to end Tivoli Storage Manager backup data
security and management. They will explore and document best practices for
TSM security-oriented design, implementation, and administration, while
working with development and other specialists from the TSM community.

This residency begins 22 Jan 2007, ends 02 Mar 2007 (6 weeks), and requires
5 residents. The residency is running in San Jose CA.

Nominations should be submitted online on the Web by 03 Jan 2007.

Note:  ITSO pays authorized travel and living expenses for all residents,
but does not compensate for the time or services of its residents.  For

Residency Description:
The residency will produce a Redbook around all aspects of backup data
security in Tivoli Storage Manager. Some of the questions we will explore
will include the following - and the residents will have the opportunity to
propose additional topics.
* encryption (including new tape TS1120 encryption)
* firewalls
* mirroring your TSM server
* taking data offsite - DRM best practices
* disk only backup - security implications
* best practices for TSM administration in a secure environment
* electronic vaulting
* long term data retention - how do I know I can get my data back?
* what happens is a TSM tape is stolen?
* how do you recover a lost/broken/stolen TSM server?
