Hi,

within the performance guide it is recommended to use multiple db volumes (4 -

Where did you get the information about using 4-16 volumes? The
performance guide only talks about "multiple" volumes on "multiple" disks.

A TSM server database with 195 GB seems to be very large in order to reach high
performance rates.

At the moment our database is 48 GB in size and is 65% utilized. What,
if I use raw logical volumes for the db and log volumes? Maybe I should
start with 3 or 4 rlv of size 20 GB, each on a separate disk and let
them be mirrored by TSM.
My other question was about allocationg db and log volumes on the same
disks or separating them. So there are two possible configurations:

hdisk2: db1 (20GB) + log1 (4GB) -> mirror on hdisk5
hdisk3: db2 (20GB) + log2 (4GB) -> mirror on hdisk6
hdisk4: db3 (20GB) + log3 (4GB) -> mirror on hdisk7

or

hdisk2: db1 (20GB) + db2 (20GB) -> mirror on hdisk5
hdisk3: db3 (20GB) + db4 (20GB) -> mirror on hdisk6
hdisk4: log1 (4GB) + log2 (4GB) + log3 (4GB) -> mirror on hdisk7
