Solved: I was running the upgrade from a web browser on the Windoze TSM
server. Once I shut down the TSM server, and tried the update from a
remote machine, it worked fine.

Hopefully you didn't use ntutil, but a serial cable? Search the list
archives for 3583 firmware upgrade....

Subject: 3583 Firmware Upgrade

Hi all. I've just downloaded all the latest firmware and Windows drivers
for my 3583. I'm running the RMU upgrade right now... using the RMU. I'm
following the directions I found here
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S7001180&aid=1.

The RMU upgrade (to version 190B_004) is still running after 45 minutes.
Anyone out there that's done this before able to comment on if this is
normal or not?
