Alan, your 'views' proposal would add a lot of utility to backup sets
and instant archives.  If the views can be generated in a few hours of
database updates at the end of the year/quarter/month and if backup set
processing could be driven by views, then it would be possible to get
a yearend copy of all nodes because the massive tape processing could
be done over the whole month of January!

I can't help but wonder if an enhancement like this, which IBM has known about
for at least 4 years, would be easier if the database were in db2 or
oracle.  If you get to talk to a developer about this, could you ask that
question too?
