Need help setting up Magstar 3570

I am trying to install a Magstar 3570 on an RS6000 Model F50
with AIX4.2.1 and ADSM 3.1. I have defined the library to the
system, but when I try to define tape drives within the library,
the process fails claiming that I need to define an element number
for each drive. The documenation, howver, indicates that the
3570 does not require an element number
