Has anyone had success in doing backups or archives over NFS at a
reasonable speed? We have a dedicated NFS server (i.e. custom hardware with
custom software) that we want to backup and archive files off of.
It works just fine outside of ADSM - tar'ing from it, cp'ing the files,
etc. However, when we try to archive off it with ADSM, we get transfer
rates of only around 15K-20K bytes/second! Assuming it was a problem with
the NFS server, we tried the same thing against a fast RS/6000, and noticed
the exact same thing!
We are using V3 clients on a V2 server. Clients and server both RS/6000
AIX4.2.1.
Is a know problem, or is it something that can be tuned or tweaked to make
work? We have many gigs of data on this NFS box that we want to get off
onto tape. Any ideas???
Thanks for any help,
-Scott
