I downloaded the ptfI.tar file from index.storsys.ibm.com, installed it,
and... had exactly the same problems as others had reported; namely after a
creation of a directory structure that looked like
drwxr-xr-x 3 root system 512 May 28 16:24 .
drwxr-xr-x 17 bin bin 512 May 28 16:24 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root system 512 May 28 16:24 d1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 1 May 28 16:24 f1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 2 May 28 16:24 linktod1 -> d1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 2 May 28 16:24 linktof1 -> f1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 10 May 28 16:24 nothing ->
linktonull
and it's succesful backup, a restore leads to
drwxr-xr-x 3 root system 512 May 28 16:24 .
drwxr-xr-x 17 bin bin 512 May 28 16:24 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root system 512 May 28 16:24 d1
-rw-r--r-- 1 root system 451 May 28 16:24 f1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 0 May 28 16:24 linktod1 ->
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 0 May 28 16:24 linktof1 ->
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root system 0 May 28 16:24 nothing ->

Peter,
I just got word today that there are new client images with a fix for this
bug on index.storsys.ibm.com in the adsm/fixtest/v2r1/aix directories.
I haven't had a chance to install and test them yet, but thought you might
like to know. Good luck. :-)
Michael
