     What are you allocating and how much extra space exists...?
     remember that the DB is 5+4*n and all that good stuff... and with
     diskpool files we were trying to format 2048 but had to back down to
     ?? 2024 ?? I think and then the format increases it to 2032 when it
     finishes... (JFS)
     I can't remember exact numbers right now... it is on the test box we
     are building and we are trying new/different stuff than how it is on
     production...

Dear ADSM managers,

I am trying to allocate an AIX 4.1.4 disk file as a data storage volume
for ADSM, using the "dsmfmt" command.  However, I am unable to allocate
a file of more than 1024 MB, even though neither the manual nor the
README file speaks of any limit.

The command:

   dsmfmt filename 1025

fails, while the following works OK:

   dsmfmt filename 1024

Why is there a 1024 MB limit here, and is it documented anywhere ?
If anything, I would think the limit is the 2048 MB AIX 4.1.4 file size
limit.

We have this version of the ADSM server:
