I would generally agree with what you are saying when it applies to
backup operations. However an archived data library will continue to
grow over time. We are looking to archive 20-30 GB in the next year.
If this system worked well over the next 2-3 months we had hoped to
roughly triple our yearly archive storage to almost 100 GB per year
of permanently archived data.

Sounds like this might not be possible.
